Environmental Design

GREEN is the word of recognition today!

Building and maintaining green has positive impacts on the environment and the people surrounding. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system was developed by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) to benchmark sustainable environmental practices through developing environmental and energy-efficient construction and practices for existing buildings. Polished concrete flooring systems are a qualified LEED product.

There are three major environmental benefits to polished concrete.

1. Concrete polishing uses existing concrete, eliminating the use of additional products, coatings and materials. No waste goes to the landfill.

2. Polished concrete is remarkably durable and therefore there is very little maintenance.

3. With polished concrete there is no use of caustics or chemicals with high VOCs. Not using petroleum based chemicals or harsh VOCs will also contribute to LEED points.
